Brimhall Road
Situated on a prominent Hill Country site near Boerne, Texas, the Brimhall Road Residence was designed to respond directly to the land—capturing long-range views, controlling solar exposure, and establishing a strong connection between the home and its surroundings.
The building orientation was carefully studied to balance exposure, day-lighting, outdoor living conditions, and seasonal sun angles. Primary living spaces open toward the landscape while roof overhangs, window placement, and shaded transitions help moderate heat gain throughout the year.
Material selection reinforces the regional character of the project without becoming overly stylized. Limestone masonry anchors the structure to the site while vertical board-and-batten siding introduces texture, scale, and contrast against the heavier stone elements. The restrained palette allows proportion, siting, and detailing to define the architecture rather than decorative excess.
Beneath the finished surfaces, the home was constructed with a reinforced rebar-tied foundation, 2x6 exterior wall assemblies, and carefully coordinated enclosure detailing intended to improve durability and long-term building performance. Structural framing, drainage strategy, insulation continuity, and mechanical routing were considered together during design and construction to reduce unnecessary complexity in the field.
